 Subject: Jesus
SCRIPTURE: I depend on God alone; I put my hope in him. He alone protects and saves me; he is my defender, and I shall never be defeated. My salvation and honor depend on God; he is my strong protector; he is my shelter. Ps. 62: 5-7
OBSERVATION: Here is complete faith and trust in God. Disciples look to God to be their one true defender. We do look to others to help; friend, family, church. But true disciples know that God will protect them and give them ultimately, victory. There is no one, nor no power greater than God. Evil may attack God and God's servants, but it will never defeat them. In the end, when we are saved and given victory, it is our God who has done such a great and wonderful thing.
APPLICATION: I have to learn this truth over and over and over again. I look first to myself and then others to deliver me. I do appreciate whatever is done to help me. But, in the end, it is God who comes through. Glory be to His Holy and powerful name.
PRAYER: O Lord, I trust You with my life and the life of those whom I love! Amen!! |

Subject: God Does Not Want Anyone to be Destroyed
SCRIPTURE: But do not forget one thing, my dear friends! There is no difference in the Lord's sight between one day and a thousand years; to him the two are the same. The Lord is not slow to do what he has promised, as some think. Instead, he is patient with you, because he does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all to turn away from their sins. 2 Peter 3: 8 & 9
OBSERVATION: God is so very patient. He gives us every opportunity to turn away from our sins. He is always at work in our lives leading us/encouraging us/offering hope to us. Time is not a problem for Him. He works tirelessly to win our hearts and souls from the world's destructive influence. One day is no different than a thousand years. He is rich in mercy and forgiveness and grace and love. He knows how to bring victory over sin. All we have to do is to keep our eyes and hearts and minds centered on Him. If we do, then we will be blessed.
APPLICATION: I am so very thankful for God's patient work in my life. He never gives up on me. I am humbled by His attention.
PRAYER: Father, I love You back! Amen!! |
