Barry Lane
Sr. Pastor

Rev. Barry Lane joined Sanlando in June of 2003 as our new Senior Pastor. Rev. Lane attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland and Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. Rev. Lane has served at First Sebring as their first Associate Pastor, St. Luke's UMC in Lake Worth, Azalea Park and College Park UMC's in Orlando, St. Paul UMC in Jacksonville and Morrison UMC in Leesburg. He enjoys golfing, fishing and jogs 3 times a week. He has been active in the "Walk to Emmaus" since 1987 and is a Stephen Leader for Stephen Ministry. You may reach Rev. Debi Douglas

 

Assistant Pastor, Congregational Care

Becoming a believer in 1989 when she had a dramatic conversion experience, Debi has a powerful testimonial and strong love for Jesus.  Debi was the first lay member to be hired by Sanlando in 1998, is a graduate of Belhaven College and was appointed as our Assistant Pastor on May 1, 2005. Her focus has been missions, with a youth trip to Tennessee (MT. TOP) and adult mission trip to Haiti in 1989.  Debi completed the Central Florida Helpline Course in 1990.  She attended the Emergency Response Team Clergy Institute’s (the organization that ministered to the Oklahoma City bombing victims) training for Sanlando UMC in 1998.  Debi was instrumental in establishing the Pet Friendly Shelter of Sanlando for the evacuees of the 1998 Florida wildfires and has since been named Director of Disaster Relief for the shelter.  The shelter was authorized by Seminole County for all future county emergency operations and she received the prestigious “Florida’s Finest” award in 1998 by Gov. Lawton Chiles.  Debi is a Stephen Leader for Sanlando and the staff support person for our Stephen Ministry program. Debi founded the TeleCare Ministry in 1999, and has taught several women's study classes at Sanlando. She is excited to serve on staff, thankful for the Lord's guidance and very enthusiastic about sharing her faith with others. She is at ext. 104 and her email is: Debi Douglas

Director of Christian Education, Nurture & Specialized Ministries

 Pat Hill joined the staff  of Sanlando United Methodist Church in 1997.  She has over eight years of experience in Christian Education, children, youth and adult ministries.  Coming out of the business community Mrs. Hill quickly developed a reputation for creative education and age level ministries.  She has done consultation at a number of churches and served on a number of denominational groups.  Under her guidance the church has grown dramatically in Christian education and children and youth ministries.  Small groups are flourishing under her guidance and lay involvement has risen dramatically.  Besides overseeing the church’s education program  Pat Hill also oversees the children and adult ministries of the church and coordinates the various mission ministries.  Pat's extension is 103 & email: Pat Hill


 

 

Linda Dares

Director of Music

Linda joined the ministry team at Sanlando in the spring of 2004. She
served as Director of Music at First UMC in Boca Raton from 1992-2002 where she directed choirs of all ages. She has directed and taught at Methodist district events and for "The Methodist Fellowship for Music and Arts" workshop. She has been a featured soloist and vocal coach with the "Boca Pops Orchestra". She has been featured on several
studio recordings both in central Florida and south Florida. Linda began her musical studies at Florida Southern College in Lakeland,where she double majored in Voice Performance and Music Education. While at F.S.C. she began singing professional musical theater and also opened a private voice studio. After graduation, she sang at Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center with "the Voices of Liberty." During her graduate studies at the University of South Florida, she was also teaching at the University in addition to performing quite extensively throughout the Tampa Bay area with the "Florida Opera Company" and the "Florida Orchestra." After graduation from U.S.F., Linda taught private voice for the Lois Cowles School for the Arts in Lakeland and directed at First United Methodist Church in Plant city.

Linda has a passion for serving the Lord with her musical gifts and for
working with people to discover their gifts. She is married to Alan Dares, a retired police sergeant retired from the Boca Police Department and they have two daughters, Jena, Lexi and their son, Scott. Linda's extension is 107 and her email is: Linda Dares


Kris Roberts

Director of Student & Young Adult Ministries

Kris arrived on staff at Sanlando in February of 2007. From 2003-2005 he served on the staff at Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Greenville, Mississippi as Student Pastor. He also served as the Associate Youth Pastor at Calvary Family Worship Center in Red Bay, Alabama 2002-2003. Being from the Red Bay area he served as Youth Pastor of the Red Bay Church of God from 1997-2002. Kris has worked in various capacities inside and outside of the church which include: YMCA counselor, Fine Arts coach, College minister, speaker for various school assemblies and State Youth Rep. Kris' passion is to build relationships with students/young adults and help them discover what it means to "do life with God". Kris is married to his high school sweetheart Crystal and is the father of two beautiful girls Bailey and Analiese. Bethany Bower-Haynes

Director of Outreach Ministries

Bethany Bower-Haynes has been a member of Sanlando United Methodist for more than 20 years. She is married to Noel Haynes and has three children, Stone and Jasmine (12 years old) and Haven (20 months). One of her first outreach efforts began with Sanlando in 1989 as a member of a Haiti mission team. Since then she has participated in or coordinated several Sanlando outreach efforts, most notably for the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home and the Bethesda Nursing Home. Professionally, she has worked for several nonprofit and Christian organizations for almost a decade, including the Christian Sharing Center and Impact Ministries. As the new Director of Outreach, she hopes to foster secular and church partnerships, and to focus the resources of Sanlando to serve our community. Mark Kelly

Organist, Music Associate

Mark joined the ministry team at Sanlando in January of 2008. He is a native of South Carolina and has been playing organ and piano for 34 years. He is a 1989 graduate of Presbyterian College where he obtained a B. S. Degree in Economics and a Minor degree in Music Performance. His church music career officially began in 1987 as a college sophomore. As a student he studied organ with Dr. Stephen Schaeffer and Dr. Edmund Shay, and developed choral techniques under the direction of Dr. Charles Gaines. He
has served as organist, choral director, or sometimes both for 6 congregations in South Carolina and Florida over the past 22 years. Mark has performed as a soloist, actor and musician over the years with numerous groups including the Laurens County Community Theatre, the Abbeville Opera House and The Palmetto Mastersingers and is excited to be a part of the music ministry team at Sanlando UMC. Mark lives in Altamonte Springs where he enjoys his full time career in sales and service with Embarq, Corp. He
